Pride+Joy // Rust-Oleum

Spray to spark joy.

Pride + Joy // Rust-Oleum

We jumped on a cultural phenomenon that rhymes with Karie Mondo to inspire people to spray.

Have you watched Tidying Up yet? Were you inspired to weed through all your worldly possessions? If so, you’re not alone.

People across the country have been getting rid of their junk at record rates—and that’s causing problems for the places their junk ends up.

So we got in touch with influencers and filmed videos to inspire the DIY community to help out—by picking up cans of Rust-Oleum and heading to a thrift store to find something to “spray joy” into.

We launched Pride + Joy on IGTV, making use of the new social platform that’s perfect for content series.

Thanks to the recent decluttering phenomenon that’s been sweeping the country, @modernbuilds found some DIY inspiration at his local thrift store in the previous video. Now, check out how he turns the vintage secretary desk he picked up into a bar cart to be proud of. #prideinthemaking
Brooke from @allthingsthrifty went to her local thrift store in the previous video and found it overflowing with discarded items, so she picked up something she could spray a little joy into to help out. Watch her turn the side table she took home into a plant stand to be proud of. #prideinthemaking
@thriftdiving headed to her local thrift store in the previous video to bring joy back to some things people decided to leave behind. Now she’s ready to take some spray paint and transform the cart she found into a standing desk to be proud of. #prideinthemaking

To get the word out, we also cut up some vertical videos for Stories, Instagram’s new mobile ad format. Check ‘em out, if you’re into that kind of thing:

Results aren’t in yet since this just launched—but the client did tell us that these videos are their favorite thing the brand has ever done.
